antidepressants

antidepressants

A friend of mine told me that a long time ago, she stopped taking them because she would rather be sad for a reason than happy for no reason.

This is why I don’t want to take them. They blur the lines between chemical reactions and reasons.
Not many people realize that, though.

Everybody is different. I’m not happy all the time, I still have fears and self doubt. And I am definitely not happy all the time. But now at least I’m not sad all the time.

See my body is broken, a gene mixed up, inherited, some bad instructions. My body fails to produce enough serotonin, its unbalanced. This prevents me from being able to handle problems and failure. It cripples me, depresses me. I have a physical disease that has mental symptoms.

The trick, i think, is to keep it from excess. I think doctors and society at large expect/want to be happy, so when they try to fix us with antidepressants they over do it. they kill the sadness, in-staid of taming it.

Antidepressants aren’t bad, but like with a lot of things I think they are misused and over prescribed.
